Paris Hilton Wants You To Know She Is Not Her Brand
Paris Hilton is being pretty open in a new documentary about herself: 'Paris, Not France.' She says the Paris we know is "just a character she's invented."
"In a way it's good, but I also don't want people thinking of me as this blond heiress…airhead," she says in Paris, Not France,
a new documentary about her life, premiering Tuesday on MTV. "But that
is kind of my brand. I make a lot of money by doing that."
I can certainly see the appeal of playing a lucrative character. The interesting thing about Paris (and Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian and some of the other personalities ou there) is that they don't need the money.
I wonder if Paris talks about what led her to become such a public figure?
In the documentary, Paris also says that her reputation is "forever tarnished" by the sex tape she made with ex-boyfriend Rick Solomon.
"I always looked up to Princess Diana and all these
women, and now I could never be like that," Paris says. "I want to have
a family. I want to be normal. I want to be happy."Instead, she says, she has to worry about people "thinking I'm a s*ut and thinking I'm something that I'm not."
I never thought about how hard it could be when you become famous for being yourself (as opposed to being an actress who plays roles or a singer). How do people differentiate between the public persona and you, especially when you're trying to say they're one and the same in some settings (like on reality TV)?

Wow this is obviously something she tells herself so that she doesn't feel like her entire existence is one gigantic failure. I guess getting into "character" and getting a dui and endangering the lives of others made her a lot of money and made people love her for it. She makes bad, often inconsiderate decisions all the time that don't stand to benefit her anyway- she is exactly the spoiled, ignorant, ungrateful tw.at that comes across to the public, although maybe she's just a teensy bit ditsier when there's a camera around.

I'm not a huge fan, never have been, but I've always figured she was putting on an act that people just ate up. I might catch the documentary, reruns if I don't see it that night as I know it will probably show about 5million times. You have to give it to her, for doing pretty much nothing she is making more money than probably all us members combined.
And, for those of you who don't believe any of it is an act, listen to her talking. Sometimes she slips and talks normal without the baby voice.
Yes, the baby voice is probably an act... but not the dumbass part. She couldn't have made any of that money on her own- she's just got smart people leading her in the right direction and at the end of the day she just does not bring anything positive to the table.
