All Celebrity Phones Were Confiscated At Jennifer Lopez's 40th Birthday Party

It didn't matter how big of a celebrity you were at Jennifer Lopez's 40th birthday party, everyone was treated the same and had to follow the same rule. Madonna and other celebrity guests, including Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige, were forced to hand over their mobile phones and any cameras before they were allowed into New York's Hotel Griffou to celebrate with Jennifer last Friday.

The strict rules angered some partygoers, but Madonna and Rihanna reportedly used the increased privacy to dance "exuberantly" to Rob Base and DJ EZ's hit 'It Takes Two'.

Jennifer spent most of her landmark birthday working on the set of her upcoming film 'The Back-Up Plan'.
When shooting wrapped for the day, the cast and crew presented her with a cake and flowers before husband Marc Anthony arrived to whisk her away to the surprise party.
Jennifer looked stunning in a slinky silver dress as she posed for photos outside the event, and Marc couldn't keep his hands off his wife.

UNbelievable!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Completely ridiculous and over the top. They could be lavishing some of the money that took on needy children, fighting puppy mills, third world country, clean water, mosquito nets..................and the list goes on and on and on.

How do you know that they don't? They might very well donate to all of those causes, and bless them if we don't have to hear about it. It sucks the philanthropy out of something when a person has to brag about their donations.

I have to disagree with you, Anony. Just because someone has money doesn't mean that the have to give it away to charities. They have both earned their money and if Skelator decides to throw an over the top, lavish party for the mother of his children, then that's his decision to make. No one knows what they donate or to what charities.

THEY WORK FOR THEIR MONEY, SO IF THEY WANNT TO PARTY EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE IT.S THEIR BUSINESS. THEY ARE JUST HAVING FUN..

Anonymous Anonymous said:

No, it's not THEIR money. They might have earned it, but their work (and the work of any other multimillionaire) is in no relation to their incomes. They steel this money from society. And they have to give it back.
I don't mind if they have a party, though.

Not sure i understand the mobiles and cameras ban.

hexkitten hexkitten said:

I've heard of mobile phones being taken away at smaller (non-celebrity) dinner parties because some people can't resist blabbing away when they should be enjoying dinner with the people who are in the room.

As for the cameras, maybe they wanted to make sure that none of the photos leaked to the media or gossip sites?

I'm confused because didn't she already have a birthday party? She was wearing a silver dress. The ban is stupid. Does Jlo really think Madonna or Beyonce was going to post pictures on Facebook?

Of course not....but if your going to take phone and cameras away form other party goers why do M and B get an exception. Actually I think it was a great idea. I'm sure it was comforting not only to Jen but the other celebs so they could just have good time and not worry about pics leaking out! Cuddos to Jen for the great idea.---em's

This is her second party. You're right...at the first she was all decked out in a gorgeous silver metalllic gown. As to the cell phone ban, I don't think it was Madonna and Beyonce she was worried about...probably more worried about the help staff and other less known celebrities who would steal a picture or two just for the hell of it and then have those pics mysteriously show up somewhere else.

Some of you do not read very much. This was a second birthday party, and it was a surprise. The ban on cell phones and cameras is SOP in many events not just celebrity events. Photographers use it to have their exclusivity. It makes sense.

Madonna? for real? she attended Jlo's B-day party? I can't believe it. I need to see pictures of Madonna going in. I know the paps took pictures outside of the hotel. Madonna, can't stand Jennifer, especially after Jennifer dis her years ago and has never apologized.

What was the diss? I can't recall...

Gisela Gisela said:

JLO did an interview for a magazine, I can't recall the name of said magazine. In the magazine she dissed Madonna, Gwyneth, Winona and some other actresses. She said Madonna couldn't act, that the only reason Gwyneth was relevant was because she dated Pitt, and something about Winona's acting too. You would need to research if you want to, it was years ago. After the interview came out, Madonna was at a party Donatella Versace gave, she was there with Gwyneth. When JLO walked in, Madonna and Gwyneth got up and walked out of the room with Madonna saying "party's over".

Wow, it took some serious cojones for JLo to do that. Probably not a smart move since back then she was trying to establish herself as an actress. Obviously it didn;t hurt her that much though, right.

I think it's terrific. It is good for the guests, too. It insures that NONE of them will end up in tabloids with shots of them dancing and drinking and having fun and perhaps an embarrassing photo or two is spared this way. ;)

I am pretty sure that they donate money to charity. They don't need to let the world know what donations they make. As far as parties are concerned, it is their money they earned it. Yes we pay to see their concerts and movies, but no one is forced to go and see them. So if they are rich let them live and let live and enjoy their riches. Be happy for them, and be happy with what God has given you. If not go and do something about it so that you too can get rich. This would be a much better world if we were not so envious of each other. That is why there is so much War going on. Everyone wants what they can't have. HAPPY BIRTHDAY J-LO, you look gorgeous.

That was a freakin' awesome party, I was lucky enough to do the catering for that event and you could tell that they dropped a LOT of money for it, everything was perfect, from the lights to the decor, even down to the pillows, silver and gold, really really neat! I understand about the no cell phone policy, I guess they just wanted to have some good time in private. One thing that surprised me is that Jlo didn't get in trouble at any time when she was smoking. I can understand a cigarette but a cigar like the one she was puffing on?!? I'd be surprised to see if pix of that get to come out. She looked great with it though, very stylish and clearly knowing what she was doing with it, not her first cigar for sure, and after all it was her birthday, but still, laws are laws and last time I checked, you can't smoke indoor in NYC
