Lauren Conrad Getting Hair Extensions

Lauren Conrad Getting Hair Extensions

We always see them red carpet ready and hardly witness celebs getting the work done to reach that point. Here's Lauren Conrad putting in some hair extensions at the Warren Tricomi Hair Salon in West Hollywood.

I know a few people who are DYING to try hair extensions but are not ready to commit to the upkeep.

Any INO readers have them in? Are they easy to maintain?

They are hard to keep up bc it is best to have them professionally washed so they dont get ratty and stay in longer. I recommend getting them done at a black salon. It may sound prejudiced, but if you think about it, black women have been getting hair extensions for decades, black hairdresser have so much experience putting them in, bc it is very common. Also it is so so much cheaper at a black salon. The best hair is human hair, best purchased at black hair shops if you want to save hundreds of dollars!

My sister in law had them. EXPENSIVE! It took 4 hours to put them in, and they cost $2300! Once they start growing out, after about 1/2 inch it's immediate upkeep! I would love to have them but I am a no nonsense person when it comes to my hair so I know I would hate to keep getting my hair done. Also, special shampoos are recommended with keratin, and even special hair brushes. Way too much upkeep for me, but they did look great on her.

That was ridiculously over priced. Your poor ripped off sister in law! my best gf is white and she goes to the black salons and get her extensions put in for a few hundred. $500 and you should have an amazing job done. That is the max! Also if u plan on getting them often you should make a deal with the hairdresser for reduced prices on your next visits!

I only cut my hair once a year, I always condition, I never use hair spray, gel, etc., and I will only blow dry my hair in winter (if I am leaving the house. Don't wanna go outside with wet hair in the freezing cold). I'm very lucky because my hair is pin straight, so I never have to worry about frizz or anything. Most people say that I have Asian hair, but I don't have any Asian in me.

I have had them done many times, the upkeep is not too bad but if you are someone who likes to brush your hair, forget it because you have to be very careful and use special brushes, shampoos etc.

You can get clip-in ones, of the real or synthetic variety (prices, at least in canada range from $100-500) the real ones are best, you can dye them, curl them, straighten them, wash them...I have a set and they're fun (heavy though!)

Is it very painful to have them put in or just a pain to sit around for so long waiting while they are put in? I don't do much with my hair. With the family and the dogs just not much time.

Some women just CAN'T grow their hair out. Split ends or just damaged hair in general just breaks off.

Todays woman is much too impatient to wait 3 years to have hair that long. The following week/month they would want it short again. As for having damaged hair, if you get it cut and then let it grow and keep it trimmed it should be healthy. Obviously if you are getting it bleached often it will never be healthy *coughChristinaAgcough*

It doesn't just make hair longer. It also makes it appear thicker, which may be a (good) reason for people to do it. You can grow your hair out for years. It's gonna be longer, but that doesn't do anything for the AMOUNT of hair you have

Great point ! Most of these girls are young with pretty normal looking hair tho so I would bet that isnt the reason they use them.

i live in jersey and have been getting hair extensions done by this amazing woman who is not only my hair dresser but grown to become one of my good friends
its is the most amazing process and when you are done no matter what you are wearing or what mood you are in you feel like a movie or rock or superstar!
from time to time ive taken them out to let my hair breathe but ive always been so down without them and longed for the day when i got them done again.
i have never had a bad experience with them in all my 8 years and contrary to what you hear about it being damaging my hair actually got better throughout the years
any info about where to go if you live in the area or any more questions let me know!

I've had two different kinds of hair extensions and worked in a salon and spa that did a third kind. I've had the glue in, where they glue hair that is secured to a strip of fabric (or something like it) to your scalp in various layers. I HATED them, they didn't match my hair texture and some were glued to my roots. You have to get them to be removed professionally, which is another downside. I'm sure if they're done properly they probably wouldn't be so bad. I also have clip-in hair extensions which I LOVE! They're so easy to maintain. You can dye them, cut them, and best of all, put them in and take them out whenever you want. The third kind of extensions I have seen but never had is bonded hair extensions. I think those are the kind Britney Spears had after she shaved her head. Very small sections of hair secured together by bonding glue are attached to the root of your hair using a heating tool. They're the most realistic looking hair extensions that I've personally seen, because they are attached in such small pieces that it blends in well. They can only be removed professionally though, but it's a simple procedure. They just use some kind of oily solvent and they just slip right out.

I purchase real-hair extensions for 50$ and get them sown for 80$! Now, that's the way to go!

I have been wearing hair extensions for the last 5 yrs and my hair has never looked better or been easier to care for. I have long hair, so my stylist only puts the extensions on the sides to make my hair thicker. I replace the extensions every 10 weeks or so (I don't mind when they grow out a little). They look natural and when I have told a friend I have them they can't believe it. Worth every penny!!!

Forget getting hair extensions. Ive never had them because my hair is too thick and grows like a weed anyways but the extensions make you go bald and thin your hair out and rip the hair. Just take the Phyto hair growth pills and your hair will grow. I had to cut all my hair off because of the Japanese straightening and cried until I took these pills and now my hair is past my shoulders..
