Fact Or Fiction: Are Drew Barrymore's Efforts To Help Justin Long's Career Hurting Their Relationship?
Now, this is from the National Enquirer, so take it for what it's worth. Sources reportedly told the National Enquirer that Drew Barrymore is determined to make on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Long a major movie star by hiring him to star in films that she produces (e.g., 'Going the Distance'). Justin apparently isn't interested.
"Drew's been pushing Justin way too hard," an insider told The ENQUIRER.
"She's determined to transform him into a leading man. But Justin is
resisting. And they're now beginning to clash in a way that is undoing
their love."
It supposedly has gotten so bad that they've begun to argue on set.
They were filming a scene when Drew stopped everything and decided to give Justin some acting suggestions," confided the insider.
"He was not receptive. The discussion escalated - and soon it was getting louder and louder."
Finally, Justin "huffed off to his trailer" with Drew trailing behind, said the insider.
"Once inside, they began yelling at each other!"
I don't know if this is true, but I think we all know a couple where one partner has very ambitious plans for the other that causes tension.

I don't know if its fact or fiction, but she is a bit older than Justin and certainly more established as an actor, so it wouldn't seem odd that she would give him pointers. However, her error may be giving him pointers in front of others. Everyone has their pride.

I agree. Her tendency to look after her partners, remember Green?, might be perceived as stifling by them.

Isn't she the director? Isn't that what directors are SUPPOSED to do - give 'acting suggestions'?? Don't work FOR your gf or HIRE your BF if you can't handle the working relationship!
