Brad Pitt Criticizes Tom Cruise's Nazi Film
I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised by this. It's not like major celebrities to criticize each other's work, but Brad Pitt apparently has no qualms about it. He gave an interview to German magazine Stern about his new film, 'Inglourious Basterds.'
"The second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I
believe that Quentin [Tarantino, director] put a cover on that pot. With Basterds, everything than can be said to this genre has been said," Pitt tells the German magazine Stern. "The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story."
Apparently, the fact that Tom Cruise's WWII movie, 'Valkyrie,' was based on a true event (an attempt to assassinate Hitler) didn't impress Brad. When the interviewer asked him about 'Valkyrie,' he had this to say:
"It was a ridiculous movie."
I'm guessing Tom is going to take the high road and say nothing. Brad's probably at a point in his career where he's more willing to say whatever's on his mind.

My dear Gisela, i dont meant to be uptight about this comment but as you now everyone has there own opinion about the movie. Brad obviously has his. For example i wouldn't say that the movie was genious and thought us anything we already don't know about history. But i also woulnd't say Mr. Pitt doesn't have any class or taste. See how we think different!. Im a little surprise on how you think a man hand over his balls & brains (which is pretty funny by the way) to his woman just because his speaking his mind or has an opinion about something. A bit surprising since you sound so open minded and seem to know when someone is speaking their mind. Anyhow!!! My guess is you simply dislike him :-).

I don't agree at all.
I just don't like his attitude. BTW.....there is nothing wrong with a man handing his balls over to his woman, his brains on the other hand he needs to keep. I know plenty of men who do give their brains and balls away, seriously. I just think is unprofessional of him to speak like that about another actor's work. It was never like Brad to speak ill of other actors, I don't know what is going on with him.

Brad has succeeded in making me loathe him.
As a German I only can say that "Walkyrie" was really ridiculous, because (and I am studying history) it had so much historical mistakes in it.
As for me, I can't wait for Inglorious Basterds. Of cousr it is not based on realitiy, but it is entertainment. And "Walkyrie" wanted to be a historical-film but came out to be just stupid and irritating. Tom Cruise just wanted to be famous again and he just was not good in the role of Stauffenberg, a all-american-aged-scientologist- actor like Cruise as a german oppositioner? Oh come on it was so unreal (especially for german visitors)!

For me, it wasn't that Valkyrie was a good or bad film. Its that he thinks his sh!t doesn't stink and has the audacity to put down other actor's work. Mr. Pitt has had is fair share of bad choices and should know better.
All I can say to Brad Pitt is: I usually really like you. Please stop talking. Please.

I can't wait to see Inglorious Basterds! I didn't have a chance to see Valkyrie, but had to laugh to myself when I saw the previews...Tom Cruise playing a German, but who didn't even have a German accent...

I wonder if it would still sound bad if the quote was taken in context. "It was a ridiculous movie" might not be so bad if it was part of "It was a ridiculous movie. They created cities and people who didn't exist and inserted technology that wasn't available."
I'm reminded of a guest speaker who came to a class I was taking. She was an Olympic athlete who almost lost her corporate sponsorship because the "journalist" twisted her quotes to make it sound like she was slamming the businesses. She remembered that she apologized for being late while joking that her hair looked like she hadn't combed it in weeks. They combined this with a remark later in the interview about where she had her hair done. The result: "I get my hair done at [salon]. I look like I haven't combed my hair in weeks!"
I'll be interested to see if his publicist has anything to add at some point.

Brad needs to keep his opinions to himself. It is extremely unprofessional. Brad's body of work is not exactly award winning but his colleagues have a little more class than to diss him publicly. He looks pretty pretentious in that pink get up and pinky ring. You aren't all that Brad! Get over yourself cause we are!

This is strange. I thought that Valkyrie was a well done film. Certainly would say it was "ridiculous". Now this film that Brad Pitt is in looks totally ridiculous, but I gathered that that was somewhat of the point of it.

I am SO not digging on Brad's outfit. WTF? Those shoes look like they're from the 70's...they remind me of the shoes that Eddie gave Clark Griswald in National Lampoon's Vacation. And the rest of the outfit is just kind of "dandy". Doesn't seem to fit his style? Was this a joke? I'm too lazy to read it all.
I'm not a fan of Brad or Tom but IF Brad said that, it was classless and extremely stupid on his part. There is such a thing as professional courtesy, and with 20 years in the business, he should know that. I have to assume it was taken out of context, if said at all. They are both major Hollywood power houses and would know better.

I really doubt that Brad Pitt would say that, and actually US Magazine has clarified that he has not said that. 'UPDATE: Manager: Brad Pitt Never Called Tom Cruise's Movie "Ridiculous"'. I've seen Valkyrie and Inglourious Basterds, both movies are not the same and are both great movies to see. One is a historical movie while the other is Quentin Tarantino gut busting action at its best. Trying to compare these two movies is like comparing apples and oranges.
