The NY Post is reporting that DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) was found dead in his apartment on Lafayette Street in Manhattan today.

Sources said drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.

Let's not make any assumptions. Full details have yet to be released. No rep confirmation. I just can't believe that DJ AM is dead. He was so young and finally on the right path in life. 

TMZ is unfortunately confirming the same news:

Law enforcement sources tell us he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. We're told drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
We're told DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days -- one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.

On August 25th, Adam tweeted:

"New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems."

Perhaps everything wasn't as fine as it seemed from the outside. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Last year Adam and Travis Barker survived a deadly plane crashtogether. I can't help but think about what Travis must be feeling. They became very close after the incident.

The 36 year old was once engaged to Nicole Richie and dated Mandy Moore on and off for several years.
