Kate Gosselin Sends Her Children Off To School
I have family that lives in Pennsylvania and school has officially begun for the state. I can't believe how different everyone's schedule is - but PA has to take into consideration snow and ice days. The earlier they start, the more days off they can use when the weather becomes unbearable during the winter months - make sense.
Kate Gosselin saw off all 8 of her children this morning. What a wonderfully QUIET day she has ahead of her!! Can you imagine going from a summer of madness to complete silence until 3pm M-F? It's like magic.

I live in Memphis, TN and the kids went back to school on Aug 10th. I remember when we were in school, we didn't go back until after Labor Day.

I don't understand the logic of snow and ice days? Isn't there a set amount of school days regardless of when Labour Day falls on a particular year? Where I live in Canada, where we know all about snow & ice days, school doesn't start until after Labour Day. This year it's September 8th.

BUt you probably don't get out until June, right? I guess it depends on the amount "required."
My son attends an independent school so we have a bit more flexibility when it comes to the number of days. We get three full months of summer, unlike the public schools in our area, and we never make up snow days.
I do wish we started after Labor Day, though. Our first day was August 24th, last Monday.

Does school let out earlier? I remember when I was in school and we started returning in August instead of September, but the school year ended earlier in June, too.

Florida's school year started already. Hopefully my daughter will be going to pre-k next year. :)

Ahhh.......meanwhile Jon's poolside in Vegas, most likley with a stripper or skanky cocktail waitress! As for the snow/ice days, if Kate's kids are in private school, they may start earlier. My cousin is in Catholic school here in Michigan and he started last week, whereas the public school start after labor day. ***annie***

Yikes! Same here. Of course, it's more of a struggle to get myself going than my son, but still. Imagine how long it takes just to go around and wake everyone, much less get dressed & eat breakfast.
did anyone notice the huge wooden spoon in the passenger seat door?

That is too funny! All we need now if a random flip flop to be thrown through the air.

But when does school finish? Here in Canada all schools start the day after Labor day, and the elementary kids don't get out until the end of June--typically the last week of, while high school kids get out a few weeks early. And I can't remember the last time our public schools closed for a snow day.
School started this week here in TX as well.
8 kids... well at least she gets a breather while their in school.

What happens if they don't use all the needed snow days? Do they get to start the summer early?

I like to see that they are not all wearing the same outfit. Nice change.

wow that's a lot of kids to send off to school in one morning...i wonder if they're all in the same class. the kids do look excited :D
In Middle Tennessee the kids began school on August 14th!
It's crazy how different regions of one country are so diverse.

i'm in PA, and all districts set their own calendar. We started today, and won't be done until June 11. We have no snow days built into our calendar, so if we miss a day due to bad weather, it is tacked onto the end of the year.
