Thanks to an invitation extended to us by Avon, I was fortunate enough to get the scoop backstage as I got a real-life look into how a fashion show in the tents really happens. It was such a great look into how Fashion Week works and the beautifying put into it!

Although everyone backstage seems extremely hurried and frazzled, you’ve never seen more time efficient people in your life. Within sixty seconds, I watched an otherwise empty room became filled with a wide array of cosmetic tools, machines, and stations delegated to their function in complete order. Everyone looks stressed, but they all seem to be having a great time as they prepare for the show. Anthony Barrow and Allen Ruiz created the look for the show with not a trace of nervousness, and they pulled it off flawlessly. Allen was extremely gracious with the press despite being under pressure and provided some helpful styling tips. For instance, Allen suggested, if you are going to apply heat to your hair, make sure you protect it with a good spray so that you don’t damage your hair (I am so bad about this!). He recommends Avon’s Advanced Techniques line, which has a volumizing spray that gives a natural look.

Avon’s Global Stylists teamed up with Charlotte Ronson to create the perfect ballerina look for the models. Each girl looked more elegant than the next. I assumed they would have their hair done but I had no idea to what extent the beauty preparation for Fashion Week entails. The models were set up with hydration machines to cleanse their faces and given a moisturizing mask. They were rushed between stations to have their nails and make-up done, and yes, the models did eat the catered hors d’ourves! It was such a treat to check out the event from behind the scenes.
