Karen Sabag's Designer Couture Spring 2010 Collection

Karen Sabag's Designer Couture Spring 2010 Collection

I attended Karen Sabag's Designer Couture Spring 2010 Collection yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by her bridal offerings. If you're on the lookout for a bridal gown or bridesmaid dresses, you might want to pause a moment from pursuing Vera Wang to check out young Sabag's designs.

Sabag was inspired by the streets and walls of Barcelona. Her color story mimicked the natural colors of the pebbled streets and the light pink, mint green, gold and silver of the marbles and stones. Intermingled with black, this produced a very romantic collection that was modern but classic. She paired with the Jennifer Elizabeth jewelry line to create the accessories for some of the dresses. The show started off with some elegant wedding attire in black and white with generous helpings of lace. Wide-brimmed hats lent an old school glamor to the ensembles. Gentle ruffles cascaded over the shoulder and down the back of one pastel mini with a black bejeweled belt. Minis were kept wedding appropriate with gathered, full skirts.

Shoulders also had their time in the limelight, as Sabag adorned them liberally with sequins and jewels. The show segued into the more formal attire with an asymmetric hemmed pastel dress containing a gathered-fabric bodice and delicate jeweled detailing in the front. The figure-enhancing cut of the fishtail long gown has always been a favorite in the wedding business and Sabag did not disappoint. Heavy on the jewels and fabric and light on the shoulders, these would be complete with just a veil. I particularly loved a pastel blue number with a black waist sash. With a fitted strapless bodice and full princess skirt with pleats turned inside out, this dress proves that pregnant moms don't have to skimp on style or focus solely on their growing tummies for their big day. Its also a great way to camouflage thighs that aren't quite wedding-ready. Another such gown was flared throughout with bell sleeves for the more modest bride.

The show concluded with a grand wedding dress that took the cake, if not looking like it belonged on top of one. With a frothy white bolero and cream corseted bodice, this dress is for the bride who wants to leave her guests in awe. The full tiered skirt in a heavier fabric drifted regally as the model glided down the runway. Her hair was adorned liberally with a jewel crown. The crowd couldn't help but applaud for this number. Karen Sabag produced a breathtaking collection of modern, chic wedding attire.

Oh my God! The first dress is just awesome. Too bad the pics are a bit blurry so we cannot make out the fine details.
