No College For Hayden Panettiere

No College For Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere has decided that she will not pursue a college education. The 20-year-old actress says 'Heroes' started right around when she would have considered enrolling and life took her on a different path.

"I always wanted to go to college (but) the show happened to start in a pretty pivotal period, when you have thoughts of going to college. It was just such a success and it is what I love to do. I would love to take some classes that I really enjoy, but I think college is a learning experience for yourself as a person and (it’s about) being on your own for the first time."

If you were in Hayden's shoes, would you want to go to college?

Ah what? College is more than being on your own. I didn't go to college right after high school and I've always regretted it so now after getting married and 2 kids, I have finally enrolled in college and it has nothing to do with being on my own.

I agree, college is more than learning to be own your own. But, not everyone is cut out for college. Sounds like she's not interested at this point.

Good for you for going back to school even with 2 kids. Good luck! :)

Why would she give up the fantastic opportunity that the show has provided.... college isn't going anywhere, I went back and did a degree at 25yrs and there is something to be said about getting some life experience.

And there are plenty of other actresses who continued to work and went to college successfully. :)

Knowledge is power! Earning a load of money must be fantastic, but having a good education can never leave you. You can lose money, but you cannot lose an education.
Hayden has doen well for herself, and she is a great role model but I think education is a powerful thing. Going to university is more then being independent for the first time!

Yes, I would go to school if I were her. You sure learn a lot more than juts being on your own, that's for sure! I'm in my 5th year of post secondary education right now, and in my 4th at university (I did a year of college before). There are SO many things I love about school and I wouldn't change a thing. I never want to stop going to school and learning. The social life is GREAT too. I have never had so much fun in my life.

It DOES sound like she's making excuses. If you want to further your education you make time no matter if you work full time, married, and have kids. BTW I don't expect much from her since she is the BRAINIAC who thinks taking her clothes off will make her into the next Meryl Streep.

Plenty of other actresses...Who...Lindsey Lohan ? The Olsen twins, Mischa Barton....I think youll find more of the successful actors ATTENDED University. Hermonie Granger chick, Natalie Portman, Brooke Sheilds to name a few.
For Hayden, once Hero's cancel's which looks to be soon, will be done in Hollywood...Typcast, new fresh faces....etc.

Must suck to be a teenager in this business, especially if super famous, because the odds for longevity without a significant gap of no work are long!!!!

she does annoy me, but i'm thinking starring on a popular TV show may get her into some nice colleges...she may want to stay with the money-maker for a while.

She has plenty of time to go to college. Hollywood is fickle. If she can work now and earn a fortune, she can always go to school later if she wants. College isn't for everyone and whether or not she's making excuses, it's ultimately her decision. I waited until I was done having kids and went back when I was 32. I'm 36 now, with a college degree and now that my kids are all in school, I can't find a job. My oldest son had no interest in college, but now he's almost 20, living on his own and has decided to take some classes. But then he doesn't have millions to fall back on..lol. My middle son is a senior and plans to go to nursing school after graduation. I'm very proud of them but if they don't want to go, that's their choice, ultimately.

Kudos for her, speaking her mind. People have this idea that you have to go to college to be successful, that education = intelligence. College is not for everyone!

Stupid. Girls like this usually don't have a very long lasting career.
She might be popular on her show right now, but all her movies bombed. If the show gets cancelled (and at one point it will) she won't have much of a career left I'm afraid.

Going to college right after high school is the best thing! I went back about 10 years after I graduated and it was seriously much harder. Most of the time you have to relearn what you learned in HS. Bad decision on her part! As a side note, in her interview when she made these comments at the Emmy's, she sounded completely out of it. I don't know what she was trying to come across as, but she looked and sounded like a complete ditz!

I understand that she has the success right now, but beauty and looks will not last forever. She should have something to fall back on. Even if it is just a few Business classes. Being in the industry that she is in, she can never be to carefull when it comes to business practices. Never under estimate the benefits of a college degree

It's her choice. BUT she hasn't racked up enough accolades in hollyweird to take time off so she's gonna have to work.
I love her dress.
Please do a fashion find on her dress.

Yes, she should further her education because as others said before me, what she is doing is fleeting. There are so many starlets out there it is mind boggling...have back up. Even the late great Tammy Wynette renewed her beauticians license all the time...........
