More Information About David Letterman's Affairs With Staffers Comes Out

Well, this isn't entirely unexpected. Once David Letterman admitted to having sexual relationships with female staffers on his show, information about these women was bound to come out.

Holly Hester — a former NYU student who interned on the show — dated the funnyman for a year.

"I was madly in love with him at the time," Hester reportedly [said]. "I would have married him. He was hilarious."

And a source told People that Letterman had carried on another sexual relationship with an unnamed staffer during the late '90s.

"I'm not surprised this came out," the source, reportedly a former staffer as well, told the mag. "Even the interns knew stuff like that was going on."

The woman in question was a peer — "not an intern," according to the mag.

Another source said long days on the set of "The Late Show" led to a sexually charged environment.

"In politics it's the same thing," the source said. "People who live it, eat it, breathe it … [It's] not some sort of predatory, 'Let's hire beautiful women so we can feast on them' kind of thing. That’s just not the way it works.

"He never acted inappropriate with any of the female staff," the source said. "He was very kind, and I never recall anyone saying anything at all bad about him."

The person accused of attempting to exhort David, CBS producer Robert "Joe" Halderman, is said to have been experiencing financial difficulties. Here's what former CBS anchor Dan Rather had to say about Joe:

"I am surprised, mystified and stunned to hear these allegations against Halderman... They are almost impossible to believe. He was always a solid character, steady, reliable, and a good, swift writer."

Another colleague said Joe's "life is going to be ruined, and it shouldn't be... I just think that something must've snapped with him. I can't get over it."

I have to admit, I'm still really surprised about this whole thing. Are you?

He and his wife have been together since 1986, they got married earlier this year.
So they either have some kind of open relationship or he is a cheating pig.
Sleeping with other women while being in a relationship is the same as sleeping with other women while being married.

He's kind of always made his single lifestyle common knowledge. It also seems like everyone knew he had affairs with co-workers. I doubt his new wife was that deaf dumb and blind from 1986 to the present especially since she worked there too.

I'm not a Dave fan. I think he's corny and I don't watch him anyway, so this story doesn't really affect my opinion of his show. I now think that he's a dirty old man, and I feel badly for the embarrassment that his wife is going through. And I hope they do an investigation to make sure he wasn't using his position inappropriately.

All the reports I have seen say they happened before he started dating her. If true I would guess she doesn't have much to say as she knew he dated women before they met.

She also worked for Letterman. Whatever happened before that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of their relationship.

I am sure it matters to his wife. What lady are people talking about? Is he being blackmailed by a woman or man? I have not been following this, so I have no idea what is going on.

Can you read and understand English. This all happened before she was his wife. He dated other women before he met her. What is there for her to care about. Do you think that she thought he was celibate before they met?
If you have no idea what is going on then why are you making comments?

Can YOU read and understand English? Letterman's been dating his wife since 1986- these women were from the 1990's at the earliest. He and his wife got married last March but their son is at least 5 years old. They didn't just get together.

Maybe they had an open relationship. I know that the son was a big surprise for both of them, and I think he has settled down a little since Harry was born.

Can you read and understand English? Reading is one thing, comprehending is another. I left a comment for people to filll me in on what was going on with this story. FYI, I said I am sure it mattered to his wife b/c they have been dating for years. Which means, married or not, he was still in a relationship. You don't have to be married to somebody to feel hurt and embarrassed by them cheating on you. I really don't know what is up with the people on this site. A person can't even leave a comment w/o somebody responding to it with some witty and/or stupid remark. Grow up is all I can tell. Maybe, people shouldn't leave comments if they don't know how to behave like adults. Or, find a better way to occupy your time instead of sitting at your computer flaming needlessly on the internet. I am starting to see why some websites don't even bother putting in a comment session. This is completely ridiculous.

I still think he was wise to come out and talk about it on his show. Otherwise people would be hating him even more for trying to keep it a secret.

I think Dave was very smart to talk about it on his show. Now he has nothing to hide. This all happened before he was married, hopefully he and his wife will work through this.

It's horrible what people will do to try and get money/fame. It is very brave for him to admit to the things he has done. Good for him, and I wish him and his wife all the best moving past this

Maybe the wife and him have 'an arrangement'???? Maybe she dosn't care as long as she's got access to his money??? I don't know, just putting it out there..... (I just read above that this all happened BEFORE he got married, so whats the big deal????)

Then why did you post the comment about "an arrangement" and her not caring as long as she has access to his money?

He has been w/ his wife for more than 20 years, which means that in the 90's he was w/his wife, they weren't married but they were together!!! ddpalmer can you do the math?

There was a reason he didn't marry her all those years ago. He always said publicly that marriage wasn't his plan. Just because he dated Regina way back when, doesn't mean it was exclusive.

This is hardly a sacadal, just a failed blackmail. I don't think Dave is willing to give anymore information at this point, but what if he and his live-in girlfrined was on a break? Like I said, this is hardly a scandal.

Having worked in TV for 20 years, I'm not surprised by Dave having relationships or even flings with staff. It happens - a lot! TV jobs often have long hours and as one of the women he dated said, you live/breathe the work and hook ups happen. So many people where I worked were dating, married or had been involved. Maybe it's not like that in other industries, but in the arts/media, it's VERY common.
