Natalie's Halloween Take Home Activity

Natalie brought home his really long Halloween sequence about carving a pumpkin. The teacher wrote a note on the bottom of it saying she had issues with the project. I'm all about learning what my daughter needs help with - but isn't it odd how she put the note on the FRONT of the project? I can't keep this even if I wanted to. I wish she wrote it on the back at least.

That would annoy me, too, but I'd keep it anyway.

I agree keep it anyway. If your really anal like me I would cover it up somehow or cut out the pumpkins and paste them on another sheet.
Definitely cover it up.. put some yellow construction paper over it, you wont be able to tell the difference.

As a preschool teacher, I'd have to agree that the comment is a little inappropriate and also very vague. You could always cut off the comment on the bottom.

I say trim the entire bottom section off. What a dumb thing to write on the front of it. She's only in kindergarten - they ALL have "a little trouble" for goodness sake - they're only 5!! LOL

Keep it cut off the bottom the teacher should not make any child or parent feel uncomfortable. I think she mayhave a lot to learn about feelings. Don't throw it away Natalie drew it and that in itsself is what is special.

That is totally lame Vera. Agreed, put the comments on the back. Later, when she is an adult it is kinda funny to look back through that stuff.

What a rude teacher. So what if Natalie didn't follow the rules in "carving the pumpkin?" Every child is different and will express themselves in different ways and needs to be nourished in different ways. Teachers should know this all too well!! "Had a little trouble?" -- pfft, that is just mean.

I remember a teacher telling me in art class (this was 6th grade) that when drawing a landscape the sun must be in the center of the page...and I wanted to retort that art is about creativity and if I wanted the sun coming out of the ground I'll put it there. geez, talk about stifling!
I agree that everyone is different..part of the fun is doing what you want. Maybe Natalie didn't feel like following the rules. Anyway, I would keep it. She'll prob get a kick out of seeing it someday.

i think that was horrible of the teacher to write that on the front of her project... you should hold on to it.. but eventually you'll have so much of this stuff you'll have to weed thru and only keep some...

Like everyone else said, that was not very nice or professional of the teacher to do. Have you normally liked the teacher? I would be so mad, and when I used to be a preschool teacher aide, none of us would have ever done that.

She is 4 and in NURSERY school
not even real school yet - 3 hours a day. Teacher is wonderful - this was very surprising as it's out of character.
hate to say it - but i threw it out already :(
she comes home with SO MUCH STUFF - a month from now, it won't be missed.

Oh that's right! I keep thinking she's in kindergarten already! lol Geezus - that's really good for FOUR. I help in the 4K class here and so many of those kids don't even know how to hold a scissors, much less do a story sequence, etc. And just wait - the amount of projects/papers coming home only gets worse. LOL

She's gonna have so much more stuff throughout the years this will be a distant memory.

i agree. at least put the note on the back or something. your daughter is still small so of course she's going to have trouble carving a pumpkin.

Wow, that was a really rude thing to do. I've only recently started thinking about the amount of things that kids bring home for their parents to keep. I know I certainly annoyed my Mom I'm sure with all of my arts & crafts projects. How do you decide what to keep and what to toss?
