We Ended Up Going With Belle For Halloween
My sewing skills only helped me out for a few hours. We got through the festivities on Friday at Natalie's school... but when she came home it was ripped in a few new places. So - Sleeping Beauty had to be laid to rest.
I gave her a choice - Alice in Wonderland with all the paint all over it or Belle (from 2 years ago). She went with Belle. Luckily, Disney dresses come in a size 4 as the smallest size when you buy it at the park. So it fit perfectly.
She had a bit of a fever on Saturday (and still does today) so we did two blocks and went home by ourselves. We told our friends not to come with us and stayed clear of all children. If there was a group ahead of us, we waited and Natalie touched nothing. Just opened up her bag and let the candy fall in. She still enjoyed herself though - which is all you can ask for when a child is sick.
We missed TWO birthday parties this weekend because of their illnesses. UGH! But I never tell the kids about anything going on until a few hours before we actually have to be there. Otherwise, they won't stop asking about WHEN WE ARE GOING.
So again, they don't know the difference. Nice and relaxing weekend.

Well, she looks adorable after all that!
Henry's sick this weekend, too. (And it was a 4-day weekend, boo!) I was going to do the same as you, just walk him up and down our block, but Daddy decided it was a bad idea just as we were about to walk out the door (yeah, nothing like letting me get him all dressed up FIRST! grr!), so Henry started crying and we stayed home. :(

She looks adorable as always Vera. Hope your little munchkin gets better. My daughter's costume was able to survive all week with no major accidents (panty hoses ripped but I had an extra pair)

I think most of us at first though it was Liam standing behind Natalie! LOL I'm glad Natalie was at least able to do SOME trick or treating, she's just at that age to where she really knows what's going on, and I'm sure she would've been so sad! Halloween is my birthday, so it's always been a fun holiday for me! (Especially when I was a kid! :) )

Natalie had so many costume changes & Liam had only 1 costume...LoL.
I think it's an excellent idea not to let the kids know until a few hours before. This way they can get all excited right before...It can make their day. (my personal belief)

You are smart about not telling them what events are coming up. They can drive you nuts with the question, "Is it XXX time yet?"
