Another Day In The City - Another Migraine
It's unbelievable! I thought I added enough fun things in the middle of work events to make it a relaxing yet productive day... but it just didn't help.
This is going to be a long post, so brace yourself.
I took a 730 train in and made it to my 8:30 appt on time with Stride Rite. They showed me about 8 lines which I was very excited about. I can't wait until Natalie can wear some of Jessica Simpson's sandals. They are ADORABLE!
At 9AM, I was supposed to attend Marc Jacobs' Bloggers Breakfast and preview. I took it because I told you I was meeting my friend for lunch at 12:30. It was perfect. I get there and there is a basket of bagels on the table and some orange juice. I'm the only person in the room with the PR girl. I was confused. Turns out it was a drop in and out kind of deal. They walked you around the spring line and you were out of there in about 10 minutes.
With 3 hours to spare... LOL
I take the train up to where my friend works (mid 20s and Park) and get my nails done. I never get manicures anymore and thought 'Why not!?' I have to stay calm and relaxed and happy and stress free. It was $12 which is pretty cheap for a NYC manicure. I was surprised. Unfortunately I still had two hours to kill.
So I started to walk around looking for a Starbucks or a Barnes and Nobles etc - nothing. I come across this landmark that I know my friend lives near and emailed him right away. I said - "I'm coming over for a few hours - let me in!"
He needed to get dressed and brush his teeth because he wasn't ready for guests that early. LOL. He got me out of the cold, we chatted and played Rockband. It was fun.
Then I met my friend Sylvia for lunch at Blue Smoke - they didn't have my fried chicken on the lunch menu and I almost left out of protest. But I haven't seen my BF in a while - so we caught up. As we were sitting there... it started. The small feeling behind my eye... and I knew that was it.
At 230 I headed over to the Mansfield hotel for the Brahmin preview which I LOVED TO DEATH. Can't wait to post that. Bill met me in the lobby and came with me. I started to slow down a bit and the light began to annoy me. I was like --- IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING? UGH!
While there I got invited to a Stella McCartney Lingerie Preview / Launch party and emailed back with a yes plus one. I made Bill's NIGHT - he was SUPER excited about that little get together.
We had like 4 hours to kill before the book release and went to Grand Central to get a quick bite to eat and figure out what we wanted to do. All the while my head was slowing building.
We decided to go to the MET. We haven't been there since 1998 and I know this because that is where we first told one another we loved each other. It was in the Egypt section and I remember is so clearly. So we went back to the spot where it all began and said our vows once again. It was really sweet.
But I was done. I sat on one of the benches in the Africa wing for a while and just needed to go home. I got one of my writers to cover the Stella McCartney party but couldn't get someone for the book release. It is what it is.
We took the train home and I was in bed by 730.
Then my daughter started coughing like crazy around midnight. We both got up and she started to throw up from all the gagging - it was horrible. We were up a few hours with her before she literally just passed out with exhaustion.
We called the doc this morning and he said there is nothing to do but give cough medicine. It's a normal cold and has to run its course. HORRIBLE! I felt so bad for her.
So today, is a lazy day to say the least. My doc appt is on Monday and I can't wait. I need PILLS to help handle these headaches.
I also gave away all my events for the next two weeks except for 2 of them. One is with Disney - they have been so kind to me over the years that I just have to go (and I can bring my kids) and the other one is with the Museum of Natural History (again I can bring my kids).

Oh, Vera! How horrible! Do you get shots or take any kind of medicine to help with the headaches? And I'm so sorry about Natalie. Henry has been sick for 8 days now, and it's miserable... makes me feel so helpless.

I hope Natalie is feeling better fast. And I hope you get your results from the MRI on Monday really quickly. I feel so bad for you that you have to deal with them. :( Try to kick back and enjoy your weekend. P.S. I'm sooo jealous - I've always wanted to take my kids to the Museum of Nat. History. Although Connor's holding out his hopes that we can get to DC next summer and check out all of the Smithsonian museums. (Air & Space mostly lol)

Ooh! I've been to the Smithsonian a couple of times. Very cool. Our fam used to travel to D.C. every year.

I'm sorry that you got another migraine, I hope they can give you some meds to help next week! I love how you went to your friends' and played Rock Band! I'm a big fan of the music games! LOL It made me smile when you said that you and Bill said your vows again, that's to sweet! I hope Natalie feels better soon, and you also! Sending prayers your way! :)
:( for migraines! The only thing I have read that gets rid of cranial pressure without pills is hopi ear candles. You could always give that a try and see if it works. Feel better soon.

You have been busy, Jerry (my Husband) had cluster headaches knew when they were coming also. Used to get a pain in his stomach once it's there the medicine isn't going to work. Once you have the mri they will give you something to take before the onset. Take it slow LMAO. Feel better.

Dealing with a migraine and having a sick kid does not sound like a good time. I wish you both well!

Sounds like you had a gread day minus the headaches.
For the coughing- Make sure the air isn't too dry! Put a bowl of water on a window ledge, or near a radiator. Chewing gum would help- it moistens the throat, or suck on lollipops. Anything that produces saliva!

Except for the migraines that sounds like a great day.
