MCM Spring 2010 Preview

MSC invited INO to preview their Spring/Summer 2010 Core Collection and their Resort 2009 and Spring/Summer 2010 New York Collections. MCM is a luxurious handbag line that specializes in exotic skins (faux and real) and creates statement pieces that speak to the adventurous side in all of us.

The color palettes for the collections were pastel blues and oranges mixed in with lush blacks, deep blues, bold metallics and I'm-spending-the-weekend-on-my-yacht whites. MCM reeks of elegance and effortless beauty. They incorporate classic and trendy shapes, unexpected hardware and high-quality materials to produce bags that you just might drool over.
Most of the MCM bags are made with lush animal textures, some real, some faux, all lush and buttery-soft to the touch. I loved that they used thick chain detailing as the handle for some bags and embellishment for others. The shape of the season is the small shoulder bag with long straps, a la 1980s. My favorite of these was the Pop Python Large Clutch in beige. Equipped with a convenient fold over flap for easy access, and gold chain straps, this bag is perfect for a night out or a day shopping. I appreciated the bit of material over the part of the strap that hangs over the shoulder. No-one likes a chain digging into their shoulder as they go about their business. It seriously can impede a bag's loveability factor.

MCM also does luggage, so you can be the epitome of style as you strut through the airport. The Cognac Visetos Medium Trolley is a textured, monogrammed beauty of a roller bag, that you might have problems parting with when check-in time comes. Made with the same lush leather, this one has black accents and a name tag.
My absolute favorite bag is the Cat Walk Tote. It takes color-blocking to new heights with python-ish leather in orange and beige. Adorned with blue tassels off the handle and an optional thick chain handle, this beauty can hold the kitchen sink and then some. I am dying over the embellishment at the front. Its a door latch, in silver and gold. This heavy piece of hardware almost steals the spotlight from the rest of the gorgeousness that is this bag.

As you can tell, I'm fairly obsessed with MCM. The bags (and one bracelet) mixes luxury and beauty, while maintaining versatility. Though you can rock the clutches with evening wear, feel free to make one of the bags your everyday companion. To see more of the collection, go to www.mcmworldwide.com.
