Adam Lambert Admits He Got Carried Away At The AMAs

Although Adam Lambert says he's "not a babysitter," he admitted he "did get carried away" during his interview on CBS's 'The Early Show.' Adam was on CBS rather than ABC's 'Good Morning America' because ABC cancelled his scheduled performance for them.

"I admit, I did get carried away, but I don't see anything wrong with it," he said on CBS' The Early Show Wednesday. "I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was just to interpret the lyrics to my song and have a good time up there."

Adam said the racy moves (kissing a drummer, simulating fellatio) were not part of his rehearsal but instead were "impromptu."

"ABC was taken a little by surprise -- and that wasn't my intention," he said. "I wasn't being sneaky." Being on stage, he said, "It got the most of me."

Adam explained that with his theater background, his focus was on who was in the audience, so it never occurred to him to consider that children were watching, especially at 10 pm at night. Looking out at the crowd, Adam said he thought to himself:

"'I wanna let loose!' It just kind of got the best of me."

Below is a clip of Adam's 'The Early Show' interview.

There were 1,500 complaints and the show was viewed by over 14,200,000 people; that calculates to .001% that complained. Why is this even an issue?

Anonymous Anonymous said:

It is an issue because I and many others do not consider the simulated sexual act by any performer ART, nor do we want to see it on tv.

How old is he? His face looks like that of a 55 year old man's.

It's a good excuse for him bec his career was over before it begin. He did what he wanted to do on stage and he was being sneaky. I’m sick and tired of these cebls like him and Riri, who’s always trying to be over the top. He's nasty in my book and he looks old as hell.

His fan base are children....

Did he ever get carried away when he performed in Wicked on broadway? NO. he stuck to what was always rehearsed for the production. If he strayed from the script on broadway he would be replaced in a heartbeat. He knew exactly what he was doing and that is why he did not do it in rehearsal. I call b.s. on this lame excuse.

Dude has a head of hair....THICK!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

The excuse was weak, but he realized his stunt probably did more harm than good for his "career", so he's trying to pacify those who were offended.

ellie, you can be so stupid...this isn't new....lots of rockstars (men) have been wearing make-up for years (iggy pop, kiss, alice cooper, ozzie osborne, david bowie, motley crue, platinum blond, boy george even pete wentz, i can go on and on)....why are you acting so shock that he wears make-up??

She's not stupid, moran. All those people you have mentioned (yes ugly as they are) wore their makeup ON STAGE....... (well except for Boy George hihi) I don't think she said it was 'new' just that he wears MEGA amounts....

He's an idiot! While I don't like them, my 10 year step-daughter likes the singers that come from American Idol. Is there no sense of responsiblity that comes with that? I think when these people sign on with American Idol or Disney for example that there should be an agreement that if their target audience is teens or tweens that they aren't not allowed to "misbehave" or that they have to pay a fine to those companies for it. Like football players in the NFL do when they act up!!

Obnoxious, arrogant, talentless douchebag. Yuck. He looks like Eddy Munsters ugly uncle.

I'm also tired of hearing people parrot the comment by sunnyman @ 1:35pm. How the freak do you know how many complaints there were? That number 1,500 is ridiculous. Are you really dumb enough to think that exactly 1,500 complained? A friend of mine tried to call in a complaint to ABC for 2 days and never got through; therefore, we'll never know the true number of angry people, but it must be huge given the fact that they dropped his lame ass from GMA and there has been a non-stop furor over his "performance" all week.

My oh my, aren't you just a the little name caller. Why didn't you toss in homophobic comments as well. You are on a roll.

He did what he did and I agree with him saying its ok for women to kiss but not men. Its a stupid double standard. Im more offended that he was so vocal right after it happened saying too bad if you didnt like ( I can respect him taking a stand ) but now flip flopping saying hes sorry. What exactly is he sorry for? Some PR person told him to get out there and do damage control and thats what hes doing.

As for him having bad skin you people need to have some sympathy. Not everyone can have nice skin and if you are one of the few who does you should feel thankful, dont resort to making yourself feel better by slamming those who dont.
