It’s the end of an era for ‘American Idol.’ Randy Jackson, the only judge left from the show’s start, is leaving the show. He stepped down from the judge’s table last season but stayed on as a mentor. Now, he’s done altogether. RELATED: People aren’t drawn to the “catfights” on ‘American Idol.’
This is tragic news. Remember Michael Johns from the seventh season of ‘American Idol‘? He died on Friday from a blood clot in his ankle, according to TMZ. Michael was only 35 years old. RELATED: All three ‘American Idol’ judges are returning next season.
‘American Idol’ alums Kris Allen and David Cook reunited to give back and kick off a new partnership between Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and Soles4Souls at ‘A Sole-Ful Evening with Kris Allen & David Cook.’ Kris and David took to the stage to play fan favorites such as Kris’ ‘Live Like We’re Dying’ and Cook’s ‘Light On’ while guests sipped Barefoot Wine & Bubbly. Kris even treated the audience to a sneak peek of his upcoming album and previewed two new tracks, ‘Paul Simon’ and ‘Everybody Needs to Dance,’ that will be released later this year. Sounds like a fun charity event!
Now THIS is an adult way to wear pink. Jennifer Lopez rocked a hot pink top with matching pants for last night’s ‘American Idol’ show. Paparazzi caught up with Jennifer as well as her fellow judges, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., as they arrived for last night’s show.
Jennifer’s look strikes a great balance between being youthful (with the high ponytail, colorful t-shirt and top) while also being sophisticated (note those SICK heels). Harry and Keith don’t even try to compete: they just stuck with the neutral dark colors that are so many guys’ “uniforms”- LOL. Why bother to outshine JLo? Not Gonna Happen- LOL.

Get THE Screen Obsessed TV Buzz:
TMZ reports that hit reality TV
show juggernaut ‘American Idol‘ is actually going to LOSE money this season. Apparently, Jennifer Lopez is earning “north of $15 million” a year, as is host Ryan Seacrest. The new ‘American Idol’ sets are said to have cost between $5 – 7 million. To add insult to injury, viewership is down by 26% this year.
I wonder if that will change now that the 2014 Olympics are over? A lot of people stop watching their regular shows during this time. ‘American Idol’ might see a bump. Despite this loss, sources tell TMZ Fox is not going to cancel the show. Since they just canceled ‘X Factor,’ canceling ‘American Idol’ as well would leave them with too many “holes” in their schedule. Something tells me Jennifer may be on her way out, however, if she doesn’t accept a pay cut next season. Ryan is a permanent fixture on the show! Well, this is just a reminder that nothing lasts forever. ‘American Idol’ has been a powerhouse for 13 years. Nothing can diminish that.

I doubt ‘American Idol’ judges Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. actually saw each other at LAX yesterday, although both were there. Keith caught a flight out of LAX. Harry was arriving at LAX. Although ‘American Idol’ has started it’s new season, they haven’t started the live shows yet, so the judges are still out and about.
Have you been watching the new season of ‘American Idol’? What do you think? I haven’t had a chance to tune in yet. I better do it soon: once the Olympics get going, I’ll be glued to the games- LOL. I liked Keith as a judge and Harry as a mentor, and Jennifer Lopez did a great job as a judge, too. I bet the three of them make for a good judging panel.
