The New York Medical Examiner’s office said the comedienne’s death was due to “lack of oxygen” while under sedation because of a “predictable complication.” Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter, wants more details. It was the biopsy that is said to have caused Joan’s vocal chords to swell, which cut off her oxygen supply. That led to Joan going into cardiac and respiratory arrest.
