Go Inside Mark Seliger’s Portrait Studio At The Vanity Fair Oscar Party #vfoscars

PicMonkey CollageVanity Fair is known for two things when it comes to the Academy Awards: their portraits and their annual Oscar party. This year, Vanity Fair partnered with Instagram to combine the two traditions into one project. In a custom-built studio adjoining the Vanity Fair Oscar Party space, contributing photographer Mark Seliger shot portraits of guests all night long. Here are some of them. These portraits are AMAZING. They’re better than watching the red carpet! You can see even more pics at the Instagram accounts of Vanity Fair, VFHollywood, and Mark Seliger. These pictures are AMAZING: take a look!

SOFIA VERGARA Joined Celebs Watching The Oscars At Vanity Fair Oscar Party

2014 vanity fair oscar party (1)

I remember Oprah Winfrey once saying that it was better to watch the Oscars at the Vanity Fair Oscar party over being in the auditorium. I don’t know about that this year: Ellen DeGeneres probably kept the crowd in the theater pretty entertained with the pizza and the huge selfie- LOL. However, there was no shortage of fun at Vanity Fair’s annual bash either, I’m sure. Here’s Sofia Vergara, flaunting her curves with fiance Nick Loeb.

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann attended the party, along with Amanda Peet. Zooey Deschanel personified flower power with her gown. Sienna Miller wore a pretty strapless gown; she attended with Tom Sturridge. And although Bruce Willis and Emma Hemming never confirmed the news that she’s expecting baby #2, I think the baby bump does the confirming for us. What do you think of the Vanity Fair Oscar Party attendees’ outfits?

Judd Apatow Shares Broadway Plans With GQ

judd apatow tells gq about broadway plans

This is 40‘ writer-director Judd Apatow sat down with GQ. He shared his next professional plan, which is to write a play for Broadway. Can you imagine the writer of ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin,’ ‘Knocked Up,’ and ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ writing for Broadway? I bet the result would be hilarious! Here are some excerpts from Judd’s GQ interview.

Judd Apatow on “This is 40″: “One person said, ‘There wasn’t enough story.’ But that’s the whole point of the movie. It’s not about a gigantic incident happening. It’s about the normal ebb and flow of your family life and your relationship—the little moments of connecting or not connecting. And not understanding why.”

…on his idea to pursue writing a Broadway play: “I miss doing something where I’m interacting more with the audience. I like the idea of writing something and rewriting it every night based on how it’s playing. I have a great idea. Maybe like the best idea I’ve ever had. It requires me to create characters and situations that have absolutely nothing to do with my experience.”

…on the topic of his Broadway play: “It’s about victims of the criminal-justice system and the challenges they face. I am excited to write something which has a social conscience. That is not something I have attempted before, and I hope I am up for the challenge.”

…on ‘Freaks and Geeks': “[“Freaks and Geeks”] felt like a great family that got torn apart for no reason.”

Lena Dunham on Judd Apatow and his work: “The thing about Judd is he lives in two very opposite arenas—the desire to tell a truthful, emotional story and the desire to make people laugh in a hard-core way. I don’t think anybody’s merged that in the same way Judd has. In the process, he’s created a whole new idea about what comedy can be. …Judd is an anxious person who understands that’s not the most comfortable way to live and who doesn’t find his own affliction cute and who is looking for ways to deal with it. He has a deep desire to find a comfortable resting place.”

You can read Judd’s entire interview in the January issue of GQ, which hits newsstands on December 25.

ENTER TO WIN: This Is 40 Movie $130 Pack Incl. $50 Fandango Bucks

Five years after writer/director Judd Apatow introduced us to Pete and Debbie in Knocked Up, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprise their roles as a husband and wife both approaching a milestone meltdown in This Is 40, an unfiltered, comedic look inside the life of an American family.

After years of marriage, Pete lives in a house of all females: wife Debbie and their two daughters, eight-year-old Charlotte (Iris Apatow) and 13-year-old Sadie (Maude Apatow). As he struggles to keep his record label afloat, he and Debbie must figure out how to forgive, forget and enjoy the rest of their lives…before they kill each other.

In his fourth directorial outing, Apatow’s new comedy captures what it takes for one family to flourish in the middle of a lifetime together.

What emerges is a deeply honest portrait of the challenges and rewards of marriage and parenthood in the modern age. Through the filmmaker’s unblinking lens, we follow one couple’s three-week navigation of sex and romance, career triumphs and financial hardships, aging parents and maturing children.

The all-star cast portraying the family and friends, colleagues and neighbors represents an ensemble of actors from many of Apatow’s previous projects, as well as new comedy players who have been welcomed into the fold. They include John Lithgow, Megan Fox, Chris O’Dowd, Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy, Graham Parker, Lena Dunham, Annie Mumolo, Robert Smigel, Charlyne Yi, Lisa Darr and Albert Brooks.
