Padma Lakshmi Has A Baby Girl
Us Weekly has announced that Padma Lakshmi welcomed a baby girl into the world late Saturday night. The Top Chef host's rep confirmed that everyone is healthy and happy.
A source tells the site the girl's name is Krishna.
Still no word on who the father is. It doesn't look like Padma wants that information made public. What do you think about withholding information like that to the public? Does it make it seem like the man might be involved with someone else (aka - married)? Or does it make it seem like she is trying to keep her personal life private?

What a rarity to see Julia out to an event like this right? She's usually so recluse. Maybe the fact that her niece was involved helped a bit? :)

Padma Lakshmi has a bun in the oven, and everyone in town wants to know, “who’s the daddy?” The Top Chef star talks passion, divorce, kids and why life is sweeter than ever. Here's a few exerts from Padma's interview with Page Six Magazine that will be online on Thursday, December 3.
On the focus and dedication it takes to look incredible for a photo shoot:
“You can eat and work out, or you can be the person who only eats a cucumber every day. I’d get really irritable if all I ate was a cucumber, so I have to work hard.”
On trying to go a little easier on herself this winter.
“One of the reasons I think I’ve gained weight pretty quickly during my pregnancy is that I’m not exercising as much as I do normally...I can’t. I’m feeling tired, and I have this business to run. You hope that with age, what you pay for in gravity, you gain in gravitas. I’m sure my thighs looked better when I was 25, but I think my mind is better today.”
On being recognized everywhere she goes:
“I went to a bar mitzvah on the Upper East Side last year, and not to toot my own horn, but I might as well have been Michael Jackson to these 13-year-old boys and girls. There were something like 30 children around me, and they were all practically hyperventilating. I had this swarm of little kids going, ‘Oh, my god! Oh, my god!’ Kids are so authentic, so pure, and they’d be telling me, ‘My sister and I had an amuse-bouche contest, and we need you to tell us who should have won.’ I think that’s really cool.”
On her ex, Salman Rushdie, and the launch of her new business ventures, including a jewelry line at Bergdorf Goodman and the Home Shopping Network:
Padma Lakshmi Says Pregnancy Is No Reason To Pig Out
Part of Padma Lakshmi's job is to eat, as host of 'Top Chef,' but she's not using her pregnancy as a rationale to overeat.
"I eat the same, just more often. Everything from movie theater nachos to spinach and apple salad. Everything. I’m not eating so much more. You only need 300 more calories. It’s not a reason to pig out."
Padma also said that although she hasn't decided on a name for her baby, she's not going to get creative when she does.
"I just want to see how the baby looks when it comes, and then I'll have some ideas," she explained. "The name will have to do with my family. I don't think it's going to be called 'Pomegranate' or 'Atlanta.'"
Good for you, Padma, for remembering that your child will actually have to grow up with that name :)
Another thing Padma isn't doing is a whole lot of shopping.
"I'm Indian," she [said]. "So we don't buy a whole bunch of stuff before the baby is born, because we want the baby to be born first, 'Not the cart before the horse.'"
Every culture is different in how they handle the birth of a baby, but I can't imagine having to go out and buy a bunch of things with a newborn! Well, I guess it all works out in the end. Especially with the internet- LOL.
Padma also declined to identify the father of her baby. Well, I hope she has a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby!

'Top Chef' Host Padma Lakshmi Is Pregnant
'Top Chef' host Padma Lakshmi is expecting a baby, her rep announced to Us Magazine. This is especially surprising because of Padma's health status.
"Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America," the rep tells Us of Lakshmi, 39.
"As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," the rep continues.
The father of the child has not been publicly identified. I hope everything goes well for Padma during her pregnancy: congratulations!

Padma Lakshmi Wants To Show You Her Funny Side
'Top Chef' host Padma Lakshmi is looking to branch out from her hosting duties. She signed a development deal with NBC and NBC's studio, Universal Media Studios, to develop a half-hour sitcom that Padma would star in.
[T]he show will star Lakshmi as a woman working in the culinary world. (One possible title being mulled: Single Serving."
I know some of you are wondering how hosting a show translates into being a sitcom star, but Padma has acting credits. She was in the miniseries 'The Ten Commandments,' 'The Mistress of Spices,' 'Boom,' and 'Glitter.'
Currently Padma and producers are meeting with writers to talk about ideas.
