Denise Richards Might Get Called To Testify In Charlie Sheen Court Case
Denise Richards may have to testify during ex-husband Charlie Sheen’s upcoming trial.
The actress – who has two daughters, Sam, five, and four-year-old Lola, with the actor – could be called to the stand when Sheen appears in an Aspen court this month, on charges of assaulting his current wife Brooke Mueller.
In 2005, Richards accused Sheen of assaulting her and if asked to appear, she may have to recall her version of events. In her account, Richards claimed Sheen:
“Pushed me, shoving me with his two hands between my shoulders. I was forced backwards and tripped over one of the children’s toys and fell on the floor with Lola.”
Richards signed a declaration of her statement after filing for a restraining order on Sheen just before their divorce.
Charlie Sheen Wished His Girls A Merry Christmas From Jail
Let's pick up right where Denise Richards' Oprah interview left off - talking about Charlie Sheen. During the HARPO taping, the reality star admitted that Charlie phoned his daughters from prison on Christmas Day.
I got a call on Christmas - a collect call from Charlie. He told me he and Brooke had gotten into a fight but didn't want to say more because the prison was recording the conversation.
“He said he didn't want the day to go by without him saying 'Merry Christmas' to the girls."
I'm sure Charlie is just loving that Denise is giving interviews about this.
Denise and Charlie – who was released on bail and will appear in court next month – split when she was five months pregnant with Lola, and while the reality star is sad her girls come from a broken home, she knows it was the right thing to do.
"I was terrified and relieved that I had the courage to do it. Our daughters didn't ask to be born into our conflict... It was impossible to make our marriage work. Charlie and I are in a good place now... It's taken a lot of work on our part."
I'm glad that these two are able to be in the same room now. They played ugly for a while.
Denise Richards Opens Up To Oprah About Charlie Sheen
Denise Richards sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, and their daughters, Sam, who's five, and Lola, who's four. Denise told Oprah that Charlie called her from jail on Christmas because he didn't want the day to go by without talking to his daughters.
"It's sad. It's a sad situation. ... Their dad was in jail on Christmas," Richards says.
She also said the girls learned that Charlie was in jail from another child in their kindergarten class. One of Sam's classmates told Sam she'd heard her father was in jail and wondered if he was still there, according to People. Ouch.
Denise also told Oprah that she considered her relationship with Charlie abusive, saying he was verbally abusive and that he pushed and shoved her but did not hit her (which is why she sought an order of protection).
"...Charlie has a very sharp tongue. ... He played on my insecurities."
Denise said she and Charlie are now "in a good place," thanks to their work with a mediator.
Although I think Denise's timing is rather awkward (it just feels a little like she's taking the opportunity to get some publicity for herself), I don't doubt her truthfulness.
Charlie seems like a guy who has a lot of issues to work through. Hopefully he'll do that, for the sake of his children, if no one else.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence that Denise Richards was seen at a park with her girls right in the middle of the Charlie Sheen debacle... but many people called the actress out on her Twitter feed claiming she only took the girls out that day because she knew the paparazzi would have interest in her.
The last time one of the agencies (I work with 4) snapped a candid of Denise was in the summer. It's been a few months. I can understand why SOME people would think Denise was out for press, but the actress INSISTS that's not what happened.
"For all the negative nellies out there, I DID not have a f..ing photo op with my kids at a park. when there is drama u get followed more," she tweeted. "Sorry had to vent s*** pisses me off sometimes..one day..I will spill my guts about EVERYTHING."
Richards continued, "I genuinely love to be with my girls and don't have a nanny raising them. They are my #1 priority and always will be."
