Mo’Nique For W Magazine

Mo’Nique For W Magazine

The October issue of W also has an interview with Mo’Nique about her new film Precious and there are some interesting quotes from the piece.

ON WHAT IT MEANS TO THE FILM THAT OPRAH WINFREY SIGNED ON AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER…
“What do you think it means when the person under God says the movie is good? Oprah might be right there with the Lord! She done gave the whole world free chicken! That’s godly, baby. That’s called a miracle. So what does it mean when Oprah Winfrey says, ‘This is good’? Then the world – not just America, the world – says, ‘It’s good.’”

ON WATCHING A SCREENING OF PRECIOUS ALONGSIDE THE “TINSELTOWN ELITE” AT THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL…
“None of those people looked like us. And it was mind-blowing when it was over, to have white men in their 60s coming up to us, crying. It killed the myth. It killed the myth that a white man couldn’t possibly enjoy two big black women onscreen.”

The next one is a bit traumatic and disturbing - so I will put it under the cut. It's about abuse she faced as a child.

James Franco For VMAN

James Franco For VMAN

I'll take him even with that stash! :)

VMAN celebrated its 15th issue with actor James Franco on the Fall 2009 cover.

Editor in Chief and founder of V and VMAN, Stephen Gan has nothing but nice things to say about the actor:

James Franco does not simply appear on the cover of this issue. He also, through a self-portrait of sorts, brings to our readers an impressive 10-page work of art within the magazine’s pages. It’s artistic, expressive, and worth seeing—both in print and as a moving image. I always like to think of VMAN as a fashion magazine for stylish and creative men who have an artistic side—James Franco is just that.

Who would think that an actor of his caliber would have such fantasies. He is an "artist" in every sense of the word, and very much a modern Renaissance man. I don't know that we've ever come across someone who so credibly rests one foot in Hollywood and one in the art world. For that reason I think this body of work is a milestone. Plus, his fascination with burning motorcycles, flamethrowers, and archers shooting flaming arrows…well it lends new meaning to the word, “Hot!”

Paris Hilton would be so proud. :)

What do you think of the shoot?

Jennie Garth For Cookie Magazine

Jennie Garth For Cookie Magazine

Jennie Garth is on the cover of Cookie magazine’s October issue with her three daughters. Below are several quotes from the interview:

ON FEELING INADEQUATE COMPARED TO FELLOW CELEBRITY MOMS… “I think, This lady has all of this time to do amazing stuff. She has this amazing marriage. Everything in her life sounds perfect. My life is not like that. It’s almost like I have some kind of [memory] disorder— I don’t remember the good things … or the bad.”

ON STARTING A FAMILY AT AGE 25 with her then-boyfriend, actor Peter Facinelli, DESPITE THE RISK OF JEOPARDIZING HER ACTING CAREER
… “There weren’t many actresses willing to have kids, because they thought it would jeopardize their career or their desirability. There was an actress on an Aaron Spelling soap opera who got sued for getting pregnant. I got pregnant right after her, while I was on an Aaron Spelling show. But I knew he’d be supportive; [90210 was such a hit] he couldn’t be anything but.”

ON HOW SHE AND FACINELLI (BUSY WITH ROLES IN THE TWILIGHT MOVIES AND THE SHOWTIME SERIES NURSE JACKIE) JUGGLE WORK AND FAMILY…
“He works like crazy. But when he’s home and present, it’s great. It’s good for him, because it’s what he’s always wanted. [Early on,] all I wanted to do was work. Now all I want to do is not work. I’ve passed that stage of my life. I have to respect that we’re at different places. Hopefully it’ll balance out.”

ON DEVELOPING A TIGHT BOND WITH HER DAUGHTERS LUCA, LOLA, AND FIONA…
“We’re always together, maybe to a fault! We like to be together, I think more than most child psychologists or even my mother would say is healthy. But there will come a time when they don’t want to be with me, so I’m reveling in it now.”

Clive Owen For Details Magazine

Clive Owen For Details Magazine

Clive Owen is on the October cover of DETAILS Magazine. The star of The Boys Are Back is the kind of guy whom straight men find authentic and their wives find irresistible.

On recent scripts: They are not very good. And these are films that are funded and ready to go expensive movies. You're amazed that people are funding them. I start to think it's me that I'm being too choosy.

On living a normal life: Im quite good at getting on with my thing. I feel I'm pretty nifty; I can spot trouble coming.

On reconnecting with his father: It was a very bizarre experience, looking at someone you've never known and going, Oh my God, that's my father.

What do you think about this cover? Handsome devil isn't he?

Penn Badgley For VMAN

Penn Badgley For VMAN

'Gossip Girl' star Penn Badgley did a spread for the Fall 2009 issue of VMAN Magazine. Photographed by David Armstrong, the actor opens up in the story “Not Just Another Teen Idol.”

Here are some Penn Badgley quotes:

On people viewing him as just a Young Hollywood star.

“I’m not just a teen star idol. I’m not just that.”

On how his role has changed:

“They brought me on to be the awkward sort of confident nerd. In the beginning, they wrote to my ability to stutter very well – it’s a comedic kind of thing.”

On his fans reacting to him:

“You barely have to be famous for people to scream when they see you.”

On the similarities of on and off screen.

“If you look at the lives we’re leading on the show and the lives we’re leading offscreen, I mean, they’re very f**king similar. But it’s not weird, it doesn’t feel incestuous.”

On being treated like royalty.

“In certain circles we’re treated like royalty. We’re treated like the Kennedys. We’re never going to be able to separate New York City from Gossip Girl and vice versa.”

On separating himself from his work.

“I’ve always tried to distance myself from the character. You don’t want people to think of you as this one guy.”

What do you think about the interview? The photoshoot?

Heidi Klum For Page Six Magazine

Heidi Klum For Page Six Magazine

On the cover of the first quarterly edition of Page Six Magazine, free inside the New York Post on September 10, “Project Runway” co-host Heidi Klum is “unzipped” like you’ve never seen her before. The exclusive pictures by Rankin were shot when Heidi was three months pregnant with her fourth child.

On Karl Lagerfeld’s comments that he’d never heard of her and didn’t know who she was:

“I don’t know why [Karl] said that. Maybe he wanted to be in the paper? Maybe he doesn’t understand what I do? It’s bizarre to me that he says he doesn’t know who I am because he’s dressed me in the past. I’ve worn Karl Lagerfeld. Not even Chanel—his line. Lagerfeld doesn’t just send random things everywhere, so it was a big thing for me [to wear his label] to the CFDA Awards a few years ago. I don’t know how he missed that, when he dressed me that time. But you know, it’s cool. People can say whatever they want to say. You can’t please everybody, and you can’t live your life wanting to please everybody either.”

On pregnancy, the fourth time around:

“It’s hard when you don’t fit in your things anymore. The last month is unbelievable, how rapidly your stomach goes. It’s huge. The thighs, the butt—everything explodes in the end. But it’s bizarre. Just as it’s a miracle that you can grow a human being in your belly, it’s a miracle that your body goes back to normal again. I don’t think you ever get back to exactly the way you were, but you do get close. And I’m happy with that. Especially when you see your kid for the first time.”

On knowing that husband Seal was “The One”:
