I hope Kayla Ewell likes the current popularity of vampires, because it's a big part of her life! In addition to starring in 'The Vampire Diaries,' she's still close friends with her ex-boyfriend, Kellan Lutz, of 'Twilight' fame, and has even met Robert Pattinson. Kayla talked about Kellan and Robert, as well as her own co-stars with OK! magazine.

What is her relationship with Kellan like?

It's fun to call Kellan and run ideas by him. He and I dated for years, when we were younger. We're really good friends still. It's so much fun for us, now, to see each other working and still be each other's support system. He's amazing.

What is Robert like?

He's definitely über-sexy and he doesn't try to be. I remember the first time I met him — I was like, "Oh, hello!" And then he starts talking and that makes it 1,000 times hotter. I'm a sucker for accents and any man who can actually sing and serenade you. He'd do open-mic nights in random bars in Portland, Ore., while they were filming Twilight. I was dating Kellan then and we'd all hang out sometimes.

So what are her 'The Vampire Diaries' co-stars, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley really like?

They're both so sexy! Every day I show up at work and think, "It's not fair that you're this hot!" They're so charming in real life and each has a really engaging personality. Ian is gregarious, the life of the party and the one everybody gravitates toward; Paul is like a secretive, sexy, groovy vampire — he's on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Kayla Ewell, who plays Vicki Donovan on The Vampire Diaries, sat down with TV Guide to talk about everything vampire! She shares everything from who's the bigger diva on set to what cast members' jobs are safe.

TVGuide.com: Are there any divas on set yet?
Ewell: [Laughs] Not yet. To be honest with you, we've been told by hair and makeup that the guys are bigger divas than the girls. Some of the guys can be high-maintenance, but they're still awesome.

Kayla talks about Vicki's transformation being turned into a vampire at the hands (fangs?) of Damon (played by Ian Somerhalder). Lucky, lucky girl!

TVGuide.com: Is Vicki a good vampire or a bad vampire?
Ewell: My take is that she's a bad vampire. I'm a mini-Damon, only a female version. Vicki goes on a killing spree. It's super-fun. I don't realize what's happening to me and just start acting on instinct, vampire instincts, instead of really thinking what I'm doing.

She says that the "blood" is an unpleasant part of the job that she's not looking forward to.

TVGuide.com: Do you feel for Ian and Paul Wesley now that you have to do all the vampire stuff on set?
Ewell: No, not really because it's super-badass to be a vampire. The only thing that I know that they hate is the blood. It tastes horrible. It's like corn syrup and sticky. It's just the worst taste in the world.

She says that nobody is really safe on the show, with the exception of the lead trio:

I would say no one is safe unless you're on the poster, which would be Nina, Paul and Ian. Even so, I think it's just really scary because on a vampire show, people do have to come in and out and die or come back to life. You're never really safe. We definitely all learned about that.

Fans will definitely want to tune in for tomorrow night's episode. Kayla shared:

There's something that happens that's very shocking. It will be shocking to the viewers. It's going to be great; it's going to create such an uproar. It's going to make the show that much more popular and bring a lot of attention

I am looking forward to tomorrow night - I live for my Thursday nights. It's one of the only shows I actually watch "live", even though I set it up to record. I can't wait that long! There was a "bye-week" last week and it killed me!! LOL!
