I was going to do a love it or hate it on Sarah Jessica Parker's outfit, but I couldn't help but post the other celebrities that attended the 'Smart People' (Facebook link here) NY premiere. Here she is with Broadway sensation Matthew Broderick, Ellen Page, Dennis Quaid and Cynthia Nixon.

Professor Lawrence Wetherhold (DENNIS QUAID) might be imperiously brilliant, monumentally self-possessed and an intellectual giant - “ but when it comes to solving the conundrums of love and family, he's as downright flummoxed as the next guy. His teenaged daughter (ELLEN PAGE) is an acid-tongued overachiever who follows all too closely in dad's misery-loving footsteps, and his adopted, preposterously ne'er-do-well brother (THOMAS HADEN CHURCH) has perfected the art of freeloading. A widower who can't seem to find passion in anything anymore, not even the Victorian Literature in which he's an expert, it seems Lawrence is sleepwalking through a very stunted middle age. When his brother shows up unexpectedly for an extended stay at just about the same time as he accidentally encounters his former student Janet (SARAH JESSICA PARKER), the circumstances cause him to stir from his deep, deep freeze, with often comical, sometimes heartbreaking, consequences for himself and everyone around him.

Dennis Quaid Says The Babies' Blood Was Everywhere

Oh my gosh, I got a knot in my stomach just reading this. Dennis Quaid is now speaking out about the horrifying experience that his family went through after his twins were given an overdose of Heparin, a blood thinner.
On the gravity of the problem:

"[Mix-ups] happen in every hospital in every state in this country and ... I've come to find out, there's 100,000 people a year killed ... in hospitals by a medical mistakes. It's bigger than AIDS. It's bigger than breast cancer. It's bigger than automobile accidents and yet, no one seems to be really aware of the problem."

On the scene at the hospital while his children were fighting for their lives:

"Our kids are bleeding from everyplace that they've punctured," says Quaid. "They were working on Boone, whose belly button would not stop bleeding - “ blood squirted across the room. It was blood everywhere. It was a life-and-death situation."

On recalls:

"After these three kids died in Indiana, they did not issue a recall," says Quaid, noting that toasters and trucks are routinely recalled. "They recall dog food that came from China last year. But they don't recall medicine that kills people if you give it in the wrong dosage. We think it's wrong. "

On establishing a foundation that will help take preventative measures within the health care system:

"We all have this inherent thing that we trust doctors and nurses, that they know what they're doing. This mistake occurred right under our noses," he says. "The nurse didn't bother to look at the dosage on the bottle. It was avoidable, completely avoidable."

Can you imagine going through something like that??? I'm glad Dennis is going to try and help make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen to anyone else.

Dennis Quaid looked HOT in this months issue of Italian Vanity Fair. Can you believe he's 53? In fact he'll be turning 54 in a couple of weeks and let me tell you he looks amazing. Dennis is A-Ok in my book. What do you ladies think? :)

Oh To Be Lost On An Island With Matthew Fox

Matthew Fox looked as sexy as ever alongside Dennis Quaid while promoting their newest movie, Vantage Point. It looks like something I would watch - right up my alley. And having Matthew to look at for a few hours doesn't hurt either right? While watching Lost, I always go back and forth, pledging my allegiance to either Jack or Sawyer. Who would be your pick?

Dennis Quaid's Twins Have Fully Recovered

THANK GOODNESS! This was BY FAR the worst story of 2007. I am so happy to hear that despite a potentially fatal hospital mix up, Dennis Quaid's twins have made a full recovery.

"The twins are back home," Loggans said of the newborns, Boone and Zoe. "Their condition is fantastic, they're smiling. Zoe looks like her mom, and Boone looks like his dad. They've fully recovered from the accident and it's doubtful they'll suffer long-term effects from the overdose."

Dennis Quaid's Twin Babies Are Fighting For Their Lives

This is so sad...in every parent's biggest nightmare, Dennis Quaid's twin babies, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were given an overdose of Heparin at Cedars Sinai Hospital. Babies normally receive 10 units of the medicine, which is used to "to flush out IV lines and prevent blood clots," according to TMZ. Dennis' little ones were given 10,000 units.

"Sunday night, both babies started to "bleed out." Both babies are now at Cedars in the neo-natal intensive care unit where we're told they are stable...As many as thirteen patients at Cedars were mistakenly given the overdose of Heparin, but the effects are more critical because of the age and weight of the twins."

This story almost made me cry, I can't even imagine having that happen. As a parent that has got to be your worst nightmare come true. My heart goes out to them right now and I hope the babies are able to make a speedy recovery.
