Edie Falco And James Gandolfini In Competition At Sundance

Actress Edie Falco (The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) is at Sundance this week. She sat down to chat about her upcoming movie and the ups and downs of being recognized.
Edie's new movie, '3 Backyards', is showing at Sundance and it's competing against her former Sopranos co-star James Gandolfini in 'Welcome To The Riley's'. Edie's character is a housewife who gets excited when a famous movie star moves in next door to her. Falco's character is overjoyed when her famous neighbor (Embeth Davidtz) asks for a ride to the ferry. The drive turns bitter as Davidtz's movie star fails to open up and show the sort of intimacy or kinship for which Falco's character had hoped.
She chats about her character and how she can relate to both sides of this movie:
"I know what that interaction is like — famous person, non-famous person — and I've been on both sides of it, and it's sort of fascinating, sweet, naive and nauseating. It's all those things, depending on where you are in that equation."
Edie shared that while playing Carmella Soprano, she was rarely noticed by fans because she looks so differently in real life. However, she's finding that her character on "Nurse Jackie" more closely resembles her:
"We are sort of similar looking, and I'm getting a lot more attention than I had anticipated," Falco said. "I am not going to complain about anything. Everybody dreams of being in the situation that I'm in, but it doesn't suit my lifestyle. I'm quiet, and I kind of keep to myself, and I've always been that way.
Despite her famous roles, she maintains that she is very normal:

Edie Falco’s Dog Inspired Her To Adopt

Edie Falco’s dog inspired her to adopt.
The former ‘Sopranos’ star – who raises four-year-old adopted son Anderson and adopted daughter Macy, one, alone – decided to give two children a home after becoming attached to the pet.
She said:
“I have this dog named Marley, and it is a kind of love I had never known. I have a hard time believing Marley did not come from my body. I know that sounds insane, but I feel that connected to her. She made me realize I wanted to adopt children.”
The 45-year-old actress – who beat both alcoholism and breast cancer while starring in the Sopranos – hopes her dog will help her find a man next.
She joked to Parade.com:
“If only I could find a boyfriend for whom I could buy a can of food and clean up after on the street, I’d be set. Maybe I should put that ad on Match.com!
“I’m just not one of those people who thought having biological children was that important. To me it was more about wanting to raise a child.”
I love Edie! She needs to get on another hit show so we can see more of her on a weekly basis.

Edie Falco And Her Son Anderson In NYC

Is it wrong that I thought her son would look like a little AJ? :) Edie Falco and Anderson were photographed walking around NYC with their pooch on her birthday. Edie just turned 44 on the 5th. I read that Anderson was adopted. Yet, I still see a resemblance. Funny how things like that happen. Edie chose the name Anderson to honor her mother. It was her maiden name. Edie Falco And Brooke Shields At A Rehearsal for Speak Truth To Power

Edie Falco and Brooke Shields were photographed au natural outside the theatre where the two are performing in Speak Truth to Power. I have to admit... I love Edie Falco. Sometimes when she has to do a really emotional scene in The Sopranos she has me bawling on the couch because I really believe her. I think she is a wonderful actress. I haven't seen Brooke do anything in over a decade. So I can't comment on her. Click on the thumbnails below to enlarge each picture.![]()
