I am a sucker for animals and a caregiver for a feral cat colony in my backyard. I think humans need to learn to appreciate nature and the lovely animals that we share this world with and STOP KILLING THEM with our pollution and destruction of their natural habitats. http://www.alleycat.org - Alley Cat Allies is a wonderful site for feral cat caregivers and anyone who wants to help them http://www.tierrescue.org - My local horse (and donkey and everything equine) rescue that my mother, sister, and I volunteer at. I guess you could say I'm an animal activist. I have severe fibromyalgia, so I'm exhausted, in pain, and pretty much feel like I have a nasty flu 24/7. Strangely enough, this has made me so much more compassionate and, I think anyway, a better person all around. Unfortunately, I'm broke, so it's hard for me to fund my charity work and take care of the precious kitties in my backyard. So... I ignore the pain and work with the animals. My mother and sister help to plan fundraisers for True Innocents Equine Rescue (TIER) and I do what I can. When my hands and arms are a bit better, I'll be making jewelry and stitch markers for all of you knitters to sell and all proceeds will go towards feeding and sterilizing feral cats in my backyard. Once they're all fixed, funds will go to my local animal shelter (that my mom volunteers at and I shall be, in the future) and humane society. I tend to ignore my health issues and would rather spend what little money I have on my feral colony. My friends yell at me about this and they've been donating money towards the care of my "foster kitties." I have wonderful friends, to say the least. I guess this makes me a Crazy Cat Lady.... and very proud to be one. :) This is my life and caring for these guys makes me very happy.
