Three Down - One To Go

Three Down - One To Go

Ok - I will try to be brief.

Yesterday I did three tests that I needed to take care of. Unless something INSANE comes back from the MRI, everyone is pretty much saying it's stress. Too much on my plate. I shouldn't have started INO Mommy. That's what's killing me. To rev up a site is IN (freaking) SANE. It's not really about the writing as it is about getting the site on the MAP. And that is just SO INTENSE. I have to think about what I want to do here....

But back to the tests. I will just write a quick summary of each.

Neurotrax (?) I think that's the name: Long story short - it was a memory test. And it was really elementary. I mean, my daughter could have done it. It was split up into several sections and I zipped through all of them except the ones where they required me to remember a number of pictures or word pairings at once. For example, they would show 8 pictures and you had 20 seconds to stare at them. Then they showed one at a time and you had to say which way the picture was pointing. So an arrow - was it pointing N, W, E or S. I had no idea. I mean, pulling a blank. It was too many at one time. When they showed one pic, I could do it. But when they put up the full 8, it was impossible. Midway I started to cry because I knew how STUPID the test was and how I SHOULD be able to do it -but I just couldn't. The woman was nice though. She told me to relax and take my time.

Even the word pairings - clueless. They would show 8 pairings in a flash and then give you multiple choice to try to match it with the correct counterpart. Impossible.

Everything else I did - so I don't really know what that means.

EEG (Electroencephalography): I almost asked the doctor to take a pic of me. I had wires all over my brain! It was nuts. You close your eyes and they flash a bunch of lights. It was supposed to trigger a seizure or show ADD / brain disease etc. Doc said I had none - but did note my brain waves were hyper active. He said I needed to relax a bit more.

MRI: This was insane. You didn't have to take your clothes off and change into a gown. I even kept my wedding rings on which surprised me. The machine wasn't as claustrophobic as I thought. And truth be told, I couldn't be scared... because the NOISE WAS INSANE. No one tells you of the obnoxious amount of banging and clanking and pounding the machine makes as it takes photos of your brain. I was doing everything in my power to NOT laugh. I just couldn't believe it. My brain was vibrating - and I'm not joking. I actually felt my brain swell with each BANG. You aren't supposed to move at all either -so here I am trying not to smile when all I could think of was... Rockband and alien invasions. That's what it sounded like - playing the drums on Rockband and some cheesey 50s alien movie. I tried to do a YouTube search but came up empty. I don't wish you have to go through a brain MRI, but unless you do, you can't understand what I'm saying. It was wild.

My mother said she did an MRI for her knee and it wasn't like that. Guess it's just the brain one.

I came home, we played the with kids a bit and I went to sleep at 830 or so. I was so tired.

Today is my 8 yr anniversary. Bill and I were going to get a sitter and go out, but I really want to take it easy today. Just want to chill out at home with the kids - or maybe take them to someplace local and low key for dinner. Dont' want to make a big production. He came home after dropping Natalie off from school and got me a BTL from Starbucks. So today is the best day ever. :)

Perhaps I Need To Change My "No Work" On The Weekends Policy

Perhaps I Need To Change My "No Work" On The Weekends Policy

I got invited to attend a preview for George Clooney's 'Up in the Air' by American Airlines this Saturday. I sent it around to my fashion writers (who sometimes cover other events for me when I can't make it) and one of them took it.

I forwarded her email to the PR rep and forgot all about it.

Then I get an email from Samantha who told me that American Airlines is FLYING HER TO LA along with a plane filled with writers for the night. They watched the movie ON THE FLIGHT TO LA!!!

LOL! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? A free night on the west coast - and I said no. The way the email sounded, it seemed I would watch the film in the executive lounge and get a cool gift bag. I guess I misread the whole thing.

Either way, I'm glad Samantha got to go. She said she never visited California so this was quite the experience for her. :)

Mr Bobby Flay

Mr Bobby Flay

My hair is soaking wet in this picture because I thought the event was at 2:30 and it was at 12:00 instead! LOL!

At 10:45 I decided to look at the invite to start getting ready for the function and then saw NOON as the start time. Mind you I am an hour away with traffic. So I jumped in the shower, threw on some clothes, and hopped in the car service that was waiting outside for me for about 20 minutes. OMG! L-O-S-I-N-G it.

The food he cooked was the best I've ever eaten and it was all with Hellman's Mayo. I am going to do a huge write up and include the recipes he gave out because I was DYING how good they were.

And naturally I teased him - can't help myself. At one point Bobby un-tucked his shirt after the event and just wanted to hang out. I called him a slob and said I wanted to take a pic with him as he was. I even requested some mayo so we can stain his shirt. He laughed, fixed himself up and we took the shot.

More to come about this later.

After the event, we went to the Natural History museum with the kids to preview a new exhibit that is opening this week. The kids LOVED it. They were running around like ANIMALS. I could barely keep up.

Today is my MRI - 5pm. Will update you about that once I get any news. At 1:30 I have another appt for the balance issue. Then 2 more tomorrow as well. This is going to be fun. :)

I Am Now At Peace With This Town

I Am Now At Peace With This Town

While I still am unable to find an actual restaurant that serves freshly squeezed orange juice... I did find a grocery store that does. It's the one we go to all the time - this little local Natural Food Mart. And I don't know why I never thought to check.

Bill ran out yesterday to get cold cuts because I was in the mood for a turkey and cheese sandwich last night and came home with this bottle of goodness. He said, "I have a SURPRISE FOR YOU!!!!!"

and me being me didn't even get up off the couch because he always brings home these desserts even though he knows I am trying to be good with eating. So I was almost angry at him at that point. lol.

I get up to make the kids their meal and he whips out this little juice container and I practically fell to the floor. I ripped it open and inhaled it whole. I'm not sure I even tasted it that's how fast I drank it, but at least I KNOW where to get it. Yesterday was a good day.

The day before Bill came home and surprised me with THANKSGIVING DECORATIONS. He drove around with Liam until he found some! Now I have corn husks, an all brown turkey and a cornucopia.

What a good egg I have!

I Have Benign Positional Vertigo

I Have Benign Positional Vertigo

Ok - doctor appt number one was today. I have three more to go to on Monday and Tuesday. Then this will all be over... well, almost.

Today was an ear, nose and throat guy and his entire office was connected. Everything was electronic. I had my picture taken to go in my chart. He walked around with this e-tablet and brought up your file and took notes on it. Then it just uploaded to the main server. Ah-mazing.

He kept asking me about my issues and I kept telling him how crazy his office was. I couldn't get over it. Internet in the waiting room. A dream come true.

Long story short, I had to have my ears cleaned for this balance test I am doing on Tuesday. He said I hardly had any build up but it was good to do it as suggested. Then he started to run a few quick tests on me and determined I have Benign Positional Vertigo. The test on Tuesday will confirm.

I also have to make an appt with an eye doctor because apparently I can't see to my far right. He made me follow his finger around and I couldn't get past a certain area and he said that wasn't normal and might be contributing to the vertigo. YET ANOTHER DOCTOR APPT. Is this NUTS OR WHAT?? LOL!

Lastly, I took a hearing test and the doctor said I had hearing like an 18 year old. I said thank you (because what else do you say to that), took a few prescriptions for my sinuses and off I went.

Now I have to play catch up online and hop in the shower. Today I meet Mr. Bobby Flay. Will take pics. :)
